AOO is a 32 bit application on windows and requires the 32 bit JRE. go to the following link and choose either of the first 2 downloads. They are for the 32 bit JRE that you need. Install that and open AOO and navigate to Tools/Options/OpenOffice/Java and verify that the box for Use a Java Run Time Environment is checked and that the window displays the information for the JRE. If it does click OK and you should be able to start building your database.
