David; The most likely cause of this is that there was a power surge that interrupted the save process or you that you closed the lid on a laptop before the save process was complete thus leaving the software in an unknown state. Please try the following: Option-click the Go menu Choose Library from the menu to open the folder in the Finder. Click on the folder Saved Application State Delete the file org.OpenOffice.script.savedState Please also tell us what version of AOO you are using. This sounds suspiciously like a known problem in the 3.4.x and early 4.0.x versions that was finally fixed in AOO 4.1.0. Regards Keith
