How large is the file? If you cannot do it, I might be able to convert it to an ods (calc) file for you. That said, excel may be able to write an ods file directly. It is better, of course, if you do it yourself. If AOO cannot do it, I might try LO (LibreOffice), sometimes, what fails in one works in the other. Kind of a least resort for a casual user I think.
