Frank - Are you talking about deleting the file for the presentation, or deleting all of the slides within the presentation but keeping the file intact?
For the latter, I see in LibreOffice that if I select all of the slides then (oddly) the Delete Slide menu item disappears. Is that what you're seeing? I found that if I unselect even one of the slides, then Delete Slide reappears. Or if I select, say, slides 2 to the end, then Delete Slide is still there. So I can delete all but one of the slides and then delete the remaining slide separately.
