I have OpenOffice version 4.1.14. I have noticed recently, as in the last 30-45
days, OpenOffice randomly crashes while I am writing a text document. This
causes me to not only lose the paragraph I was writing, but also the previous
paragraph as well. Restore gives there was an error and could not restore the
full document. Frustrating to say the least.
Doing what is reasonable, I saw that there was an update to version 4.1.15 and
wanted to upgrade to cure the ongoing problem. I tried using the auto update,
but it says it can not auto update, and I must go to the download page for the
version I need. I tried going to the Update page and directly download version
4.1.15. I did so, but that version did not do anything when I did the download
and installation process. I am still showing 4.1.14 despite trying to install
the full newer version of 4.1.15. Yes, I rebooted my computer after
installation. Still no dice.
I am at a loss as to what is going on. I tried to go to your Forum page, but it
is grayed out when trying to navigate into the actual forum area. I tried to
use the search feature, but it just flashed briefly, giving an empty search
box, and did nothing, no navigation, no search results, just nothing.
