Hello, Everyone :)
First of all, OpenOffice.org is getting to be more of a pleasure all the time, not only to work with, but to reccomend to others. On our home system (Fedora Core Linux 3) everything is wonderful, even startup times :)
But I am having this wierd problem that has popped up in at least the last two development versions of OpenOffice.org. As always, I have prepared a series of screen shots to illustrate my dilemma:

That first screenshot shows how a footer in my sample file displays (I have a lot of files that exhibit this behavior) This is with OO 1.1.4, and in this screenshot, it displays correctly. The only thing that is supposed to be in that footer is the page number.

The next screen shot was of the same file, on the same page, at the same time, using OO 1.9.71.1:

You will notice a number "1" to the left of the page number field. It is not supposed to be there. I checked the "footer" style for any offending information, no luck. It also exhibits this behavior in 1.9m69. I am now going to see if I can find some other OO version on mirrors that haven't removed them yet, just to test with them. I will get back to you with what I find (if anything)

Keep up the great work :)

I recommend that you check the bug issue tracker and post this as a bug...

http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/project_issues.html

You will need to be registered to enter the bug if it does not already exist....
