That is more or less what I expected. This is normal for OOo and other
similar apps. Threaded apps are even more confusing as they show up as
muiltiple copies of the same thing and look like they are taking over
the world but in reality only use the memory for one instance. 

Since this has confused you and this list is not really the forum to
unconfuse you, may I suggest that you take advantage of
http://www.linuxquestions.org/ which often has explanations that are
easily understood by new users. Try it.
