Bob,
OOo does not handle WP files natviely. there is however a filter than
can be applied which will allow OOo to work with word perfect files -
it can be found here :wp.openoffice.org.

OOo does have spell check in various languages.

OOo does not have 'reveal codes' by itself, but on the page mentioned
above there is a project already started (but not currently being
worked on) to mimic this functionality and have it within OOo in
future releases.
