Another, obviously simple comment. Almost every OO document I create needs to be sent to others who almost universally use MS Office. (But yes, I've convinced a few to OO.) Anyway, remembering to do a "Save As" every time is more than I can manage. The easier way for me is to set OO to always save in the MS formats. (Tools, Options, General.) That way everyone can access them.

The native file format is a zipped XML file.
it is only when the filters are applied by a save as, that it truly becomes
an .xls, or .txt file.
