[users] superscripts and subscripts in the bibliography

Hello All,
I am running OOo 1.1.3 on Windows XP.
I am writing a scientific Thesis and am using the bibliographic database 
supplied with OOo to cite my references in the bibliography. I would 
like be able to put superscripts and subscripts in my bibliography. For 
example, I have a paper that has a title:

'... $_{3}$Li$^{6}$ ...'
where the '$' denote using math (like in latex) to make the subscript 
and superscript.

Is this possible? I tried typing exactly as above, and it provides the 
text exactly as above in the bibliography.

Can anyone help me?
