Hi Chris,

Apologies for repeating this question, but after 24 hours, no-one seems to have responded and I do rather need a solution to this question.

I am trying to configure an address book datasource using openldap. When
I run the wizard in Write, it comes up with the following error:
"A driver is not registered for the URL sdbc:address:ldap." Can anyone
tell me what this means and how I can get this feature implemented?

To access address books, OpenOffice.org uses a few components and libraries from Mozilla. These allow OOo to create datasources for Mozilla address books, Outlook and Outlook Express ones, and LDAP directories.

That bridge to Mozilla, like most features in OOo, is implemented in a component, and different components handle accesses to different types of datasources. These components register themselves at installation time so that OOo can determine which features are available.

The message you're getting seems to indicate that no registered component in your installation of OOo claims to be able to handle this particular type of datasource. It could be that the OOo component itself is missing, or that the Mozilla libraries required are missing, or possibly that the LDAP libraries are missing. Sincek, however, all of these are normally shipped and installed together with OOo, you're probably missing the lot.

I am running OpenOffice on Fedora Core 3 (OOo v1.1.3). I have my
openldap address book set up with a sample of addresses and now want to
set this up in OOo.

Is your installation of OOo one that you performed yourself from the standard tarballs or one that came with the OS? It sometimes happens that distributors remove some features from the OOo they ship. If you've installed OOo yourself, I would suggest forwarding your question to [email protected], as this is the mailing list specifically dealing with that part of OOo.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help,

Cyrille
