Sadly the fix did not work. OOo tries to start, the splash screen appears, and the progress bar gets about three-quarters there, then the splash screen disappears, the hour-glass in the system bar spins for a while, then goes, and that's it.
On inspecting the OOo directory, I found that the new Common.xcu file had been created, but clearly hadn't freed OOo to function. So I thought I would try "Repair" from the "set up" file. However, I then got the message that I must close OOo first, so it would seem the program thought it was running after my abortive attempt.
I then closed the whole system down and re-booted, then tried once again "Repair". This time it allowed me to do it - but when I tried to run OOo, I got the same result as before.

Whilst using a database with OOo as front end, OOo crashed during saving.
On re-booting the OS, and then OOo, I get the message "cannot be started due to an error in accessing the configuration data....The following internal error has occurred: GetStorage, name: "No Content!"
What do I need to do to rescue the situation?
