Dear community,Considering Sun has a lot to do with OOo, it's not surprising that Java has been stapled to the side of OOo. It's sure fun referring to everything in StarBasic as:
despite of the fact, that I love TeX I am using Open Office for some years now.
I wonder myself everytime I install OO why I forgot the JDK to install in advance.
There is no information before - so I do not regocnize before starting the installtion. Maybe there is a way to inform the user before the installation, to look for that kind of software? (I do achieve to download it meanwhile, but maybe others do have problems..)
Where is the advantage of using this JDK / what features/performances get lost if I do not install it?
Thanks in advance... asking myself for month =)
I hope it is no FAQ... but if so, please redirect me instead of getting annoyed answering me.

Yes I wonder if JDK is good or bad for us too. It's not *too* hard to find and install the JDK after installing OOo and then telling OOo where to find it, though admittedly, the java website could use less BS and more download links in prominent positions.
