Wow. Try not to be so rude.

Sorry if i came across as rude. That was not my intention. I was being honest in my impressions about OOo. I have no interest in hiding or diluting my differing views behind politically correct mumbo-jumbo.

An office suite is quite a bit more
complicated than a communication suite,

Granted.

so you can't expect perfection
from a free product.

Please state *specifically* where i "expected perfection".

RE: free product: "Open source is only free if your time has no value."

The UI is acceptable at worst for everyone but
you,

LOL. "everyone" - That is so stupid, I almost didn't respond. So if i suddenly liked the UI, we would be in the *at best* scenario? Now you're just sounding like a fanboy.

and why does the icon on the start menu have to look like a
folder?

Because it *is* a folder (in *addition* to the OOo application suite), and could otherwise be confused for a shortcut to an application. UI must be *quickly* and easily* recognizable as to its function.

Besides, it looks great on other OSs; porting to Windows was a
nice addition, not a goal in the first place.

Yeah, we don't want a product for an OS that normal users are actually *using*.
