Just seen this thread. This may be a little simplistic, but won't a
table (with no visible borders) work in this situation. This means
that everything is nicely lined up, no issue with indents, styles,
conversion between .sxw / .doc

I've attached an example which should make it through to the original poster.

Maybe I've missed something - ....
