If this is really the case that when you click on the ball a floating
window does not appear from which to select the various
search/navigation modes, then you should run repair. YOu should also
note that various functions in OOo affect the way these navigation
functions are activated. For more information please see
documentation.openoffice.org.

clicking the ball icon should open up the Navigation toolbar, where you
have to select which elements you will be navigating through. if you
select Page, you will be able to use the up and down arrows to flip
through pages. if you select Graphics or Tables, you'll skip from one
graphic/table to the next.

that's how it works in 1.1.3. not sure about 1.9.xx versions. which one
are you using?

can save as so that it can be opened in Word Perfect?

I have also discovered, to my joy and delight, that kword can open .wed
files. I have also discovered that I have better luck cutting and
pasting from kword into OO than saving in a format that OO is supposed
to be able to read.>>

I have suddenly developed a strange problem. When using the search
facility the vertical navigation double chevron buttons on the RH side

<snip extract.log>

Did you do an MD5SUM on your zip file once you downloaded it? This is a
way to check if you got a good download or not. Instructions are here:
http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/using_md5sums.html
Check values are here:
http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.4/md5sums.html

Once that is verified, try to unzip again, and you shouldn't get any
errors. If you do, let us know.

Since installing openoffice my webpages are often unreadable. The
