There's a set of Syriac fonts, The "official" Unicode version put together by George Kiraz. All:
I ran into a not-so-little problem, working on a project with _The Peshitta_.
None of my UTF-8 fonts display the Syriac sub-range. (Ux0700 - Ux074F)
Arial, Bitstream Cyberbase, Bitstream CyberCJK, and Bitstream Cyberbit just skip it. Code2000 just displays white boxes. Courier displays black boxes. TITUS Cyberbit Basic jumps from Ux0700 to Ux0900 leaving white space.
a) If somebody has those fonts on their system, can they confirm that the Syriac subrange is skipped on those fonts. [ I'm trying to figure out if this is a problem with my fonts, OOo, winXP, or something else.]
b) Can somebody point me to a UTF-8 font which includes Syriac, _and_ Syriac works for them.
I don't use them because they were done (originally) for Microsoft, and were only available through Microsoft.
You don't mention Titus Cyberbit Unicode; have you tried that?
I haven't messed around with Syriac for a long time, but most of the stuff that shows up on the net works with Titus Cyberbit Unicode.
