Often when I copy/paste from a web page to OOo 1.1.4 the last 2-3
paragraphs of an article seem to have disappeared right in the middle of
a sentence somewhere in the 'crevice ' between the 1st and 2nd page...
in other words, at the page break. What causes that, and how can it be
corrected
so that I can see if it all is there on the page to read later, save and
print?

Probably you paste a structure that includes tables. Tablecells crossing a page, are a known problem in OOo 1.1-series.
Have you tried various options under paste special?

Also, since my MS WORD 2000 now doesn't even open to let me read, I
have to "Open With" each one and save in OOo format.
If I send one of the WORD docs as an attachment in an email, will the
recipient be able to read it if that WORD doc doesn't open for me? Or,
if I send the OOo 1.1.4 version of the file and recipient only has MS
WORD, will it be readable to them?

Installing OpenOffice might change the settings for the file-types, so that doc-files open in OOo by default. (This is a chooise however with the installation, and also you can reset it later via the Explorer, Files or so).

When sending to others, not having OOo, it is wise to save in doc-format: File|Save As.

May I suggest the following page to you: http://documentation.openoffice.org/

Pls write again if you get lost somewhere.

Kind regards,

Cor

I still haven't just deleted all my WORD docs because of not knowing the answer to that? I hope you understand my query,

Joan
