I have created icons on the desktop for each version of OOo. Right
click on the desktop. Create New > File > Link to Application. I
modified the Name of the link using the General tab and entered the
path to the proper "soffice" program. (home directory/OpenOffice1.1.4
for version 1.1.4 and /opt/openoffice1.9.79 for the version 2.0 beta)
One or both of these icons can be moved to the panel on the left side
of the tool bar.
I have also changed the icons for these two versions. That is done
in the General tab. Click on the icon in that tab. A new window allows
you to change the icon with another system icon or browse to find a new
one. I browsed to the /opt/OpenOffice1.1.4/share/icons directory to get
the icons I wanted.
