I used alien to convert to deb (Debian) packages, everything seems okay,
it works. I thought a tar.gz file would install anywhere, suprise, it
was full of rpm's :-(
In my experience, there are subtle things broken in OOo when you use
alien to install. There are .debs here:
ftp://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/SRC680_m83/Build-1/
and they are much more solid.
