Ok, so you've downloaded the *.zip file. If you can't find the *.zip file that you have downloaded search your file system for it. On windoze right click and select search anywhere in file explorer and search for file named something like OOo_1.1.4_Win32Intel_install.zip ....
Check to make sure that the download wasn't corrupted (check out other resources on instructions on how to do this : http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.4/index.html) I'm assuming that you have an installed un/zip type application (eg, winzip). If all this is ok, then it all should work. There are some installation guides which can help as well - have a look at www.openoffice.org for these guides.
