Please be patient with me, but I'm still having problems.

1. I opened the database and found the wizard, as per the reply below to my original email. However, something I missed that was on the Link wizard in 1.1.4 is the ability to say which fields one wanted visible on the report. This I need because the field that contains the information that governs whether a record should be selected is a field that itself does not need to be printed. So I take it that I am to create a Query first, and then create a Report from the result of applying the query filter. After that, I seemed to be getting there, but then at the crucial moment when the report was going to be created, it crashed on me, and advised I should check the data source. It will probably turn out to be my mistake, and with a bit of patience I will probably get it to work. But I'm writing even so, because it just seems to me that I have to jump through an awful lot of hoops to get a fairly simple report out, and I can't help feeling it was a lot quicker with the old method in 1.1.4. Or is it justa matter of familarity....?

2. I wanted to vote for putting the Report Wizard back into Writer, but opening the issue referred to by GRS didn't seem to have anywhere on the web page to add my votes (and as it currently has no votes, I feel the issue needs some support!) I remember casting a vote for an issue some time ago, but can't remember how I did it. Do I have to register or something first?

Keep up the good work - I'm sure 2.0 will win a lot of new freinds for OOo when it is finally launched.

Report wizard only available from the open Database file. Either click the Reports object icon or right-click a table's icon and choose Report Wizard...

This on m79 (2.0Beta) or m83.

What I am concerned about is that the report generator in 1.1.x is
capable of producing templates WITHOUT a database. I would like to see
this functionality returned to the suite. I have checked as deeply as I
can on the features of 2.0 new and old and have never found any
reference that this capability was to the removed or made database
exclusive.
