FWIW (in reply to the second comment about Windows and odbc connection support): I have 1.9.79 and I am able to connect to a MySQL database (served from a RedHat server) using odbc in Windows XP SP2.

I can't tell from the initial request - are you trying to connect to a MySQL database served on a Mandrake server and are you using Mandrake?

Hi All

I am trying to connect to a simple test data base that I created in MySQL as root in Mandrake 10.1.

The test database is located at /var/lib/mysql and is named Gork_Search.

I go to New Database -> Connect to existing Database -> Set Connection to use ODBC -enter /var/lib/mysql [I have also tried /var/lib/mysq/Gork_Search] as the ODBC data source -> user name root password required -> enter Test Connection -> enter root password -> and get:

The specified driver could not be loaded.
com/mysql/jdbc/Driver

Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks

Frank

I was unable to to connect using Windows, but I have not tried since 1.9.m67.
