You're on the right track.  The help gave you the basic information.

Yes, the text box control is used in a form. In HTML, you have to put it inside a <FORM></FORM> tagset and specify the appropriate ACTION. In other types of documents, the control is used to input text to a variable, usually, so it will probably be associated with a macro in the same document.
