So maybe the original document really _is_ a table consisting of only
one column, just spaces inserted to look as if it was layouted in
columns. But this is all guessing around now. If choosing the space
separator like mentioned blow doesn't help, you might consider to upload
your document(s) somewhere and give us an URL so that we can access it
and have a look.

So what is the separator that is used in the .txt file to separate
columns? Choose that. I assume that it is a blank/space.

sigh.. yes.. because it is text, that's why you can select the filter
type to open it in Calc.

So it is not tab delimited.

Then select the space as separator, and maybe check the "merge
delimiters" option.
