Hi Javier, You seem to want to help me so I'm emailing you again! I did install Openoffice and PDF Creator. The reason I wanted this software was so I could read a letter attachment on doc??
If openoffice is installed correctly you should be able to open a word document now.
Look for a blue icon is the system tray, next to the clock. If openoffice is installed in the usual way, it must be there.
Just double click it and a window will open. Use it to navigate to your word doc and open it.
If this works, you can change your "file associations". You should tell you computer to use openoffice to open word docs. Rigth click on a Word doc, a menu will open, select "Open with...", now another windows will pop. Select Openoffice and tick "Always open with this program". After that, when you double-click on a word document openoffice should open it.
If the first step doesn't work, then openoffice is probably not installed correctly.
