Hi Bev,

OpenOffice can read MS Office files rather well. However, its not 100%
compatible and takes a different approach to formatting text so that things can
end up looking a bit different when later viewed under MS Office. If you have
a requirement for Office 2000 thats going to be tough to really get around at
this point. You might ask the company if you can substitute OpenOffice 1.4 for
MS Office2000.
If you bought your PC from a well known company then they may be able to send
a restore CD (for a fee - probably ~ us$30) that would have all the original
files. However, I really think its rare for Office (not MS Works) to come with
a new PC due to the expense of Office in general. You might want to check the
sides of the computer (not monitor!) for MS Stickers that show what is allowed
to run. If you see one for Office and not just windows 2000 then it would have
your "key" and then you can call MS for a replacement CD (again, a fee). Also
if you have some Office files left you might be able to find the license key
with a call to the PC vendor or the MS Office number (see the office website).
