[users] Problems building OO.o 2.0 - snapshot 1.9.84

I've followed the build guide up to dmake, when after a few seconds it 
outputs this:

ERROR: Error 65280 occurred while making

Presumably this is a flex problem (?), but I've tried various different 
versions and can't find one that will get past this step.

Running Slackware Current, glibc-2.3.4 w/ NPTL, gcc 3.4.3, j2sdk-1.4.2.
Any insights?
