David, I am using OpenOffice 1.1.4 and PuTTy 0.57 (which I just download and install). I am still have the same problem. I did a little test with pasting from oOffice to wordpad, it seems that when I try to paste into wordpad, it beeps and nothing is copied. Also, I notice that after I copy from oOffice, the paste in the edit menu of Notepad is not selectable (I can select the paste option in wordpad, but can not paste). It will let me paste after I try several times to paste. Could there be something I did not set right in the OS? I am using winXP.
