As others have stated in the upcoming OpenOffice.org2.0, by default, Control+1 = paragraph style Heading 1 through to Control+3 = paragraph style Heading 3. For OpenOffice.org1.1.x you may like to try AltKeyHandler available from http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/hillview/OOo/ The macro also works in 1.9.x allowing the use of Alt+Key combinations.
