I use OOo with X11 very happily on my Mac. I also have NeoOffic/J installed, but
still use OOo.

The problem of file associations is a standard Mac issue, but there may be a problem
with starting a document by double clicking without OOo already started. This is due
to X11 needing to be started and OOo opened. This is why there is the Start Open
Office.org application. I have this app as one of the startup apps so OOo is always
started when I start up may Mac. So OOo is always open already when I double click
on an OOo document.

I use OOo quite heavily at work, mostly writer. It works well under Apple's X11
windowing system. The look is more Windows like and drag and drop does not
work to or from non X11 apps, but cut and paste does.

OOo on Mac OS 10 with X11 is not bad or terrible, just not as Mac like as
NeoOffice/J. If you have no other reason than OOo to run X11 or are not a
linux/Unix 'geek', then NeoOffice/J is easier and a better choice. Note that
NeoOffice/J will always lag behind the development of OOo as it is based on
OOo. So if you need the latest cutting edge features of the newest and greatest
version of OOo, you will either have to use OOo or wait for NeoOffice/J to update.

Hello! I also tried http://trinity.neooffice.org, a Mac forum, and it seems that
OOo with X11 is not really the best! For Mac users, NeoOffice/J has been
especially made!
Try this ffor explanations!
