I created a new resource to investigate fonts if you desire to look at
them. I created a document that demonstrates the techniques. There are
three primary sections.

1. Create a summary of the fonts contained in a document. This
provides the font name and then samples of the letters and numbers.

2. Create all of the font descriptor information in a Calc document.

3. Create a Write document that contains text tables with examples of
the characters 32 through 255.

The document itself contains a lot of explanatory text. The document
contains buttons that you can simply click on to run the macros.

You can see it from:

Note that the "odt" file format requires the 2.0 beta to read. There
is a PDF version on the site if you just want to read the macros.

We can post the complete solutoins on the forum, but there is a lot of
code.... Perhaps I should post it to OOo Macros.

I am not sure if this is what I want. I have reviewed the site but somehow might of missed or not been on the correct path.

http://www.pitonyak.org/AndrewFontMacro.odt
http://www.pitonyak.org/AndrewFontMacro.pdf

The first link is for the OOo 2.0 Beta.
The second link is a PDF version of the document.
The document contains a macro that you can run that will show you what fonts you have installed on your computer.
I believe that I use Basic syntax that is NOT implemented in OOo 1.1.4, which is why I posted the document using the new 2.0 Beta format. The macros work fine in the 2.0 beta.

What I am looking for is How do I figure out
what fonts I have available?

You can also see your fonts while running Writer by looking at the font drop down box that you use to set text to a specific font.

what fonts to use?
what the fonts look like, say can I print a list with corresponding keyboard
keys

I am also looking for an old Scandinavian font possibly called Gothic, similar to old English for some documents I hope to resurrect.
