Dear programmers for OpenOffice, I tried to download the Beta 2.0 version, but I found only the 1.9.79 and this always happens when I try to get the italian version. But this is not so important as two little bugs I found.
1.9.79 is the beta version.
1) The icon that is added to the system tray (near the system watch), only has inside two commands "Launch OpenOffice at system start" and "Exit QuickStart", when they should be complete with all names-programs that OpenOffice has, just like before;
This is not a bug, it is as designed. However, recent developments have changed this and in a future build or maybe not until the full release it will be changed back.
Please see <http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=30853>.
2) During a program check, I found that are missed those translation in italian, regarding the pull-down menu, and this expecially in OpenOffice Base, so the user that doesn't know english, will never understand the exact meaning. (See the included picture)
Surely they are done to some oversight, but it's better to correct them.
I think Base is still under construction, so that may be forthcoming. What will be more useful is a complete lists of the things that are missing and posts those as issue.
Borrowed from G. Roderick Singleton: The best way to have problems such as this evaluated is to file an issue. If you haven't already registered, do the following:
Go to <www.openoffice.org> click the Register link at the top right of of the page. Fill in your information and reply to the confirmation email that will be sent to the address you provided. Once you have confirmed, go to <www.openoffice.org> again and click on the "Bugs & Issues" link in the General links box.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is important that you file the issue to ensure reproducibility with your examples.
