Hi,

I'm new to OO but have used Smartware's integrated DB worksheet and WP system on an AT (40mB disc) 64kB RAM since 1988, and have run a small business from it single handed doing my own accounts tax and NI wages and tax reconciliations bookings and automatic invoices, and maintenance records. Your software is paralysingly opaque by comparison and trying to do all that with a 64Mb memory and 40Gb disc is not possible with Windows XP. Why not stop reinventing the wheel and look at Smartware. They're still going and I'll be contacting them shortly.

I know OO is free - but whilst the spreadsheet works and the WP seems adequate both compare unfavourably with a 1986 product, they have no interrelating project language and the database is impossible. You can't (as far as I can discern) even make an arithmetic relationship between one field and another e.g. Cost = x and sales tax =X*0.1. The example in your literature of a database is a telephone directory.

I suppose you get what you pay for - but really. Even a free one should be better or at least as good as 19 year old technology. Thankfully the AT still runs but it won't go on for ever!

Regards Carey Saunders
