Why use Open Office? I already am familiar with the standard MS products.
What are the compelling reasons to use Open Office? Are there advantages
over the usual programs? I downloaded the program but i am now asking
myself why should i install it when i already have no issues with the
existing programs, etc....

OpenOffice.org is free to use and distribute, standards compliant, and future
proof.

However there are many reasons why different people would find OpenOffice.org
indespensible, e.g
1) for those not using MSWindows
2) for organisations where the simply cannot afford or justify the exorbidant
price for MSOffice e.g. schools, hospitals, churches, or any company trying
to compete
3) for organisations where they already use MSOffice but different versions of
it which results in compatability problems, moving to OpenOffice.org means
that they can standardise on one office suite and avoid all compatability
problems.
4) to avoid financing a convicted organization
5) to learn what other choices they have (which directly helps to maintain
their freedom in years to come)
6) .. and many more.
