Sorry Joe, but WHERE is it specified? Actually it isn't!

The file and location (for SuSE 9.2 OOo V1.1.3) is $HOME/.ooo-1.1/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Common.xcu

http://documentation.openoffice.org/faqs/various_topics/017.html seems
clear to me. What is the problem.

The problem for me is that on the link you say, http://documentation.openoffice.org/faqs/various_topics/017.html , they give an abbreviated form of the file-name, and in Windows terminology as well(the slashes are backward.)

"locate" shows me three files ending Common.xcu, two of which _could_ be the one required.

But then, I'm just a writer, with a smattering of Linux-knowledge, and other people may know enough to make the right guesses first off.

The directory is still pretty clear. get to your OOo directory.

Go through the directories in this order:
user
registry
data
org
openoffice
office

then in that folder should be a common.xcu.

Should be the same path no matter what OS.

Can you find it?

I find two with that same sequence:

/home/jimw/.openoffice/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Common.xcu
/home/jimw/OpenOffice.org1.1.4/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Common.xcu

Starting with /user. of course, one of them is a hidden file (/.openoffice) But without knowing that the one I really want is in the OpenOffice file, which the link does not make clear, I was left confused.

But you have just stated it's the OpenOffice file I want, which starts me out right.

Thanks

JimW
