Hi Denese,

You need to look at your default paragraph style and find out which language it's using.

Word Count is pretty 'up front' in OOo too.  See Tools -> Word Count.

Thank you for helping me find Languages tucked under Tools/Options, but when I clicked on French Language France, nothing happened until one day, I was typing precis, and it appeared. Eureka. However I don't feel I have any control. Yesterday I had to submit a piece with "piece de resistance", and for all the world, could not get an accent over first "e". This is most frustrating.
Please give me a step a by step method for application. ALSO, I want to find Word Count. Writing for a newspaper as I do, this is essential. My other program had it "up front".
