I recently bought office applications for mac osX and every time i try to look at a converted powerpoint presentation (in full screen mode a.k.a. "slide show"), it splits it down the middle of my two monitors. Is there a way to set it to have the presentation on one monitor only and the other moniotr continue to stay as my desktop. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Not in my experience, I have the same problem. There is an issue about fixing it though, for what that's worth.
