Don't know your exact answer, but on my system I can select color or grayscale in the print driver - Print command and color images always print in grayscale - although their contrast may not be as good as desired depending on what colors were in the images.

I have a document that I'm going to be print on a grayscale printer.
It has some colour screen captures.
The print preview displays these in colour.
How will these print (will they just be blank squares)?
Is there a way to make the print preview only show grayscale?
