Thanks for our reply.
I followed your instructions and, as noted, got the "formulas" for the 
regression array in the spreadsheet cells:
 {=LINEST(F3:F4;E3:E4)}    {=LINEST(F3:F4;E3:E4)}

and the "results" are:
     11.913 -$252,878
However, I want to display the equation on my graph as:
       y = 11.913*(x2-x1) + 172,000
(My graph is a plot of mm/dd/yy dates on the x-axis and values on the 
y-axis ---- thus at "0" date, the intercept is -$252,878.
But the equation I show has 172,000 as the "intercept" at the "x1" date.

By double clicking on the chart and using "Insert ---> Statistics", I was 
able to show the regression line of my points on the graph.
Now I would like to display the equation itself on the graph.  I hope there 
is an option to do this.

I use Excel at work and am therefore familiar with showing "Trendlines" and 
the option for displaying the equation and r-squared on the chart.

I'm guessing that your real question is how do I display formulas
instead of the results. Reason is that there is no difference between
other formulas and regression formulas...
From OOo help :
If you want to display the formulas in the cells, for example in the
form =SUM(A1:B5), proceed as follows:
1.Choose Tools - Options - Spreadsheet - View.
2.In the Display area mark the Formulas box. Click OK.
If you want to view the calculation results instead of the formula, do
not mark the Formulas box.
