So its downloaded. The first thing is to check to make sure it
downloaded ok (it could be corrupt). Have a look at
:http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.4/md5sums.html for instructions on
checking the md5 of the downloaded file. I've assumed that you've
downloaded the stable (1.1.4) version.

The next best thing is to read the setup_guide.pdf (or something
similar to that) which is in the zip file that you downloaded. 
Extract only that and have a read.

If you still can't get it installed, reply back to the list.
