I have been using the version 1.1 for sometime and find it very easy to get
around in and use.......
I would like to upgrade to the Beta 2.+ version listed on the home page. Does one need to delete the original version first, before setup of the
newer Beta version? If in deleting the original installation program, will
it affect any of the 'saved' files created under the 1.1?
Couldn't find anything anywhere addressing this question.........

There are two very important things to note:
1) OOo 2.0 beta uses natively a new file format (Open Document), which is not compatible with version 1.x.x. However, OOo 2.0 will read and write the old version seamlessly, just as it does the MSOffice formats. The reason you should note this is...
2) OOo 2.0 beta is a BETA, not production software! It is highly recommended that you continue to save all files in 1.0 format until the final release of 2.0, and until you are certain you will not ever go back to 1.x.x.
These notes being made, there is one important feature of the new version that has been requested, but not too many people have noticed: 2.0 can now upgrade prior installations! You should read about this in the documentation to be sure it is what you want to happen.
Happy Testing!
