I like the idea of selecting how many codes to reveal in OOo. If they could just put in a few more, such as: font & size, borders, super and subscript, etc.

You may want to check out my reveal codes macro. It is available from:

I always appreciate feedback (positive and negative).

Thanks, Ian

I missed the OP on this thread but I for one will be looking at this macro.

For those that have never worked with reveal codes.

I love the reveal codes in WordPerfect and this would be the main reason I would purchase WP over StarOffice any day. Reveal codes could have saved hours of work for my wife the other day when importing some MS Office files that were really messed up via formatting.

Reveal codes can be used in a way to not only check and format a document, they can be used to clean up really bad or strange formatting problems. Styles are just to high level for some situations.

Great examples are nested font changes or formatting changes such as bold or underline. An example that I can think of last night was an imported page from a MS document that we could not enter extra text on. For some reason, no matter where I put the cursor, any added text would put me on a new page. And no I cannot file a bug report as these are classified documents. It occurred in both 1.1.4 and 2.0 beta.

With reveal codes, you can view and place the cursor exactly where you need to. Example, Between a bold and underline change within a line. No trial and error, right where you want it the first time.

I found this as a proposal under issue 3395.
