Heres the pitch: Its built from much of the same source code tree that StarOffice 7, which isn't free, is built from, so there may be features in StarOffice that don't work in OpenOffice. The last time I checked, StarOffice was still less than M$Office by quite a bit. Yes, $69.99 USD outright for the cd, or with Linspire-4.5, $49.99. If you buy a copy of Linspire 4.5 for that, StarOffice is included. I've no idea if there are multiseat restrictions on that cd version either.
