I know many tricks for numbering an Appendix, but each method has certain difficulties. In an ideal world, this is what I would like to do.
1 Chapter One 1.1 Section one in chapter one.... .... Appendix-A Glossary Appendix-B Data Types
Show pages in Appendix A as "A-1", "A-2", "A-3", etc. Show pages in Appendix B as "B-1", "B-2", "B-3", etc.
Add the appendix entries into the TOC. It would be nice if the TOC showed page numbers as "A-1", "B-1", etc...
I tried to use my own "number range" fields, but you can not easily show A-1 and B-1 in the page numbers, because the field is updated once rather than for each page.
I can use the outline number level 10 for my Appendix numbers and then precede the number with "Appendix-". This is great until I try to display the page numbers in footer. At this point, I also add the chapter number using the 10th level, and it includes "Appendix-A" before the page number, rather than just "A".
Jean Hollis Webber has excellent coverage on this, and I can accomlish most of what I want, but not enough to automate everything.
