I confess that I do not understand what you want to do. Are you saying that you would like OpenOffice.org Writer to be able to scale from one paper size to another paper size? If so that could produce some stretched looking text if the ratios of length to width were not the same. Legal paper is 21.59x35.57cm, where as A4 is 21x29.7cm. The respective ratios are 0.61 and 0.71 respectively. Thus if a simple scaling were done then the text would look as though it had been stretched sideways. To change the paper size in Writer is done via a page style. A typical document has only one page style which is called Default. The easiest way to change the paper size is to select Format from the menu then Page. On the Page tab it is possible to select the new paper size. Calc's concept of "fit printout on number of pages" on its Sheet tab is because a spreadsheet is not designed around a page in the same way that a Writer document is. Thus, sometimes in Calc it is easier to scale the printout so that it will fit on x number of pages. A similar concept in Writer would be to scale the font size so that the length of the document shrinks by one page. I have written a macro to do just that and it it available from: http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/hillview/OOo/ > > I would like to have the possibility to have the program adjusting the > printout automatically to the size of paper I'm wanting to print on. > This can be achieved on CALC but not on WRITE. > Why not if it's the same suite? > Believe me OOo programmers, I cannot understand why you don't offer us this > option. > > This is something I've asked several times, and have got no answer yet. > I've looked into this matter through all versions of OpenOffice; from > OOo_1.1.1 up. > > Would it be possible to mend the program before version 2.0 is finally > launched? > > Thanks for reading my plee. > It maybe that I have not understood what you want, in which case could you try explaining it in a different way.
