Hi Richard,

I am helping a friend get setup with OpenOffice on a new computer.
She has a lot of medical terms stored on her old computer. What
folders/files do I need to copy to the new computer so that she isn't
starting over again?

The files generated to reflect the actions of the user when using OOo are located in the user subdirectory of the installation. Depending on which flavour of installation was performed (shared or standalone), this directory can be alongside the rest of OpenOffice.org or in a directory created where the operating system usually puts user-specific data (home directory on Unix platforms, something like c:\documents and settings on windows).

Custom dictionaries are stored in the wordbook subdirectory of user and your friend should be able to reuse her word list by transfering the proper files in that directory to the same location in the new install and enabling the use of the dictionary in the Tools/Options, Language Settings/Writing Aids dialog.

Cyrille
