Thank you for the response. Yes, *File>Properties>General tab>delete* did delete the field, but it left the actual number there as text.
F9 or *Tools>update>all* did nothing to return the number to 1. I have to re-insert the appropriate field there manually, which seems rather a lengthy workaround of something that I suggest should not be necessary!
Ohhh... So there is a field in the doc that is not updating? I thought you meant the properties area i was referring to. I see...
I sounds like the field is referencing the old doc. As a test, could you save the original doc to a second test file and then try the copy and paste. Then go back to the original doc and click the /delete/ key in the *properties* menu and see if the the field updates in the new doc.
To fix, I would wonder if *Edit > Links* and remove the link to the old file (if it is there.)
I think this is worthy of posting an issue.
