I do not have such working, but Peter Garrett replied to a similar question on the Ubuntu list. "Warty" is the Ubuntu release from the Fall of 2004. There is a release just out (April). I am not comfortable posting his email address here, but I would forward questions to him. Yes. You just enable the "universe" repository in Ubuntu http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/AddingRepositoriesHowto and install: suds apt-get update suds apt-get install ooqstart-gnome > A Google search for OpenOffice.org Quick Start locates > references to QS for Gnome and KDE. > > Here is a URL for one such applet: > http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-ooqs/ > but the author says it isn't 100% yet. I don't think you need to worry about this > Anyone have experience with such an applet that actually > works well? Yup. Got it running in Warty on both PPC and i386. Only issue I see is it sometimes crashes on logout, which really doesn't matter anyway... Just right click the Gnome panel after installing it and choose it, then configure it by right click and ticking the box to apply it in the applet preferences. > Especially with Ubuntu or KUbuntu? A similar quickstart applet is available for KDE, I believe [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ $ apt-cache search open office quickstart oooqs-kde - OpenOffice.org QuickStarter applet for KDE ooqstart-gnome - OpenOffice.org QuickStarter applet for GNOME 2 In Tools >> Options >> Memory ************ Hope this helps.
