Your problem may be a Kubuntu problem. Or maybe try a more recent version ?
Actually I went and ran "alien" on the download again, I installed the
freedesktop.deb, which I must have deleted last time, and now they are
there. What happened to the update mime script in the program directory
though? I had to do that by hand...
